Myishka heißt nun offiziell Tonya

ach, das ist kein Name für eine schöne Eisbärin.


Myishka hat mir viel besser gefallen ...

Auch nicht schlecht.
Der Name erinnert mich an Dr. Schiwago.

Also mir gefällt der Name eigentlich sehr gut.

Ich finde den Namen ganz gut.
Tonya oder Tonja ist eine Kurzform des Namens Antonia. Der Name hat etruskische Wurzeln (vermutet man).

I would have prefered yours and Jessie's suggestion 'Myischka' but whatever her name is - I've fallen in love with the lovely ice princess!

Just been reading that the new Polar Princess has been called Tanya or Tonya.

If this is the short form of Antonia, then I like it even more as it reminds me of Antonia
in Zoom Gelsenkirchen, who is a really feisty lady. The name Tonya also reminds me of Dr Zhivago (played I think by Oona Chaplin) and of course of War and Peace. I am sure that the Tierpark also had Tosca in mind as both names have five letters.

Of course we can still call her Miscka or Maueschen as a petname (Koselname). Did you know that Prince Charles and Camilla call each other "Fred and Gladys"?

Mind you I know another person who is quite pleased. I overheard this conversation in the Randolph Hotel this morning.

"Cherie, have you seen this picture. They have named a bear after me" Tony Blair's famous grin was wider than usual as he sipped his coffee and looked at the worldwide press cuttings prepared by his office as usual that morning.
The former British Prime Minister's wife was not really listening "A bar, what like Rick's bar in Casablance?"
Mr Blair looked again at the sweet little Polar Bear and decided not to reply to his lawyer wife.
"Fame is not all its cracked up to be Tonya, take it from one who knows" He murmured to himself before turning to the latest news from Libya...

Well, perhaps not but I wish the little one well.
